EQL Access OnWeb - Quickstart

A Quickstart guide to get OnWeb up and running in 5 minutes!

Step 1: Install EQL OnWeb

Once you've downloaded the EQL plugin you'll need to install it. Please close all instances of Microsoft Access before proceeding. To start the installation, locate the eqldata-install.exe file on your system (i.e. on your Desktop) and double-click it to open. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the plugin.

Step 2: Activate the EQL Plugin

Open an existing MS Access Database. Make sure all tables, forms, macros, etc are closed. Go to Tools -> Add-ins in the menu bar and click on EQL Data - Activate. This will close the database to activate the plugin.

Step 3: Synchronize with OnWeb

Now you're ready to put the database on the internet! Open your database again (after it was closed in the previous step). You'll now see a new toolbar (EQL Toolbar) with two buttons: EQL Synchronize and Web View.

First you need to Synchronize the Database with the OnWeb Server. Close all open tables, forms, macros, etc. Then click on EQL Synchronize in the EQL Toolbar. You'll notice a progress bar at the bottom left of your Access window; wait for it to complete.

Step 4: View Database Online

Click on the Web View button in the EQL Toolbar. This will open the EQL Dashboard in your favourite browser. The Dashboard displays any database changes and updates as well as a list of your database tables.

To view your Access Database click on "Run this database" under the EQL Access OnWeb section. This will take you to a new window with your Access Database displayed as it would within MS Access. And that's it, you're done! You can now use MS Access inside a web browser!
